Each kit is supplied with full manufacturer instructions; however, this guide will help you understand the correct step-by-step process for using your ALLTEST drug test kit safely and effectively.

Whether you are carrying out workplace testing, clinical screening, or at-home testing, following the correct procedure is essential to ensure accurate results.

Before you begin testing

To ensure the most reliable outcome from your ALLTEST drug test kits, please follow these preparation steps:

Read all instructions provided with your specific ALLTEST kit before starting
Ensure the test kit is at room temperature before use
Check the expiry date and packaging is sealed and undamaged
If you are doing an oral drug test, do not allow the donor to eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for at least 20–25 minutes before testing
Prepare a clean, flat surface to carry out the test

How to use ALLTEST saliva drug test kits (Mouth Swab)

ALLTEST saliva (oral fluid) drug tests are one of the most commonly used screening methods due to their simplicity and rapid results.

Step-by-step instructions:

Remove the test device from its foil pouch just before use
Remove the protective cap from the device
Instruct the donor with their tongue to lick the upper teeth on the outside, lower teeth on the outside, upper teeth on the inside, lower teeth on the inside. lick into to cheeks 3 times on both sides, lick the roof of the mouth 3 times then lap the back of the mouth and up the front of the lower teeth to produce a pool of saliva.
Place the collector into the pool of saliva for 35-45 seconds
Wipe the swab collector around the inside of the mouth, including gums and tongue as instructed in 3
Allow the swab to absorb saliva fully until the indicator (if included in the design) shows sufficient sample collection
Insert the device back into its casing if required
Place the test flat on a clean surface
Wait for the control line(s) to appear
Read results within 5–10 minutes (do not interpret results after the recommended time window)

A visible control line confirms the test is working correctly. Any additional line pattern should be interpreted according to the kit instructions.

How to Use ALLTEST Urine Drug Test Kits

ALLTEST urine drug test kits are widely used in workplace and clinical environments due to their accuracy and broad drug detection range.

Step-by-step instructions:

Collect a fresh urine sample in a clean, dry container
Open the test cassette just before use
Dip the test strip into the urine sample up to the marked line
Hold for the recommended time (usually a few seconds)
Place the cassette on a flat surface
Wait for results to develop
Read results within 5 minutes

Do not read results after the specified time window, as this may lead to incorrect interpretation.

How to read ALLTEST drug test results

Two lines (Control + Test line): Negative result
One line (Control only): Positive result
No control line: Invalid test – repeat with a new kit

Even a faint test line should be considered a negative result, provided the control line is present and as long as the line appeared within the time detailed in the instructions, and not after.
